The Double Trouble Wine Room is the fun, casual, and busy home of two high-end, artisan micro-wineries, Pagter Brothers Winery and Hoi Polloi Winery. Located on Main St in Old Town Newhall, we are looking for a team member to work in the tasting room. We anticipate that this position will require approximately 15 hours per week, possibly more
  • we will discuss your availability and our needs. Our tasting room is open Thursday and Friday evenings 5 to 10:00, Saturday from 2:00 to 10:00pm and Sunday from 2:00 to 7:00
  • availability those days/hours (plus an hour to close) is a requirement.
Compensation is hourly, plus tips which tend to be at least another $10 an hour per employee after pooling. Our model is closer to a wine bar than a typical wine country tasting room. Our guests stay for a time and can order glasses and bottles as well as tasting flights We have a large number of wine club members and regulars, and feature live music most Fridays and Saturday evenings. Bar or restaurant service experience would be great. Knowledge of Central Coast wines and wineries is helpful, but some general wine knowledge and a willingness to learn about our wines may be sufficient for the right person.
Any candidate will need to:
  • Be friendly and accommodating to our guests. A sense of humor is essential in our place.
  • Communicate about our wines to guests.
  • Promote and sell wine club memberships (we offer a bonus per sign-up).
  • Master our POS system (OrderPort) and work comfortably on the computer/iPad to process orders, payments and wine club sign-ups.
  • Maintain an organized and clean tasting room.
  • Have a willingness to do whatever is needed to keep the place operating smoothly, cleanly, and efficiently.
An ability to see what needs to be done and take a "Do-It-Yourself-Without-Needing-To-Be-Told" approach is very important.
