Job Description

The Swine Production Intern will work alongside EFI team members to learn daily swine-production practices and support farm operations.
Training and experience may include:
Daily care, observation, and handling of pigs Gilt selection and development Breeding, gestation, and farrowing activities Piglet care and wean-finish production Animal health, nutrition, and animal welfare practices Participation in farm and animal welfare audits Exposure to producer relations and other EFI business departments Completion of an individualized internship project Participation in one-on-one mentoring and networking opportunities with industry professionals Following all company safety, biosecurity, animal welfare, and confidentiality expectations Currently pursuing a degree in animal science, agriculture, veterinary technology, agribusiness, or a related field Interest in pursuing a career in the pork production industry Willingness to work in a livestock-production environment and follow biosecurity procedures Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and communicate effectively with team members Reliable transportation and flexibility to work a schedule that may include early mornings, weekends, and travel between company locations The Swine Production Intern gains hands-on experience in commercial pork production through guided learning, mentorship, and an individualized project. This paid internship provides exposure to sow farm production, finishing production, animal welfare audits, and other areas of the business, including feed milling, transportation, and business administration as time and interest allow. Internships typically begin in late May and conclude in early August.
