Job Description

Growing manufacturer in the Hanover, PA area is seeking a Production Supervisor to manage day-to-day processing activities within assigned poultry production lines (Deboning, Tray Pack, or Packaging). This role leads hourly line staff to achieve production targets, maximize yields, and minimize downtime while upholding strict USDA, HACCP, food safety, and workplace safety standards.
MUST HAVE
poultry experience.
Key Responsibilities Line Operations & Productivity:
Direct daily line operations to execute production schedules; monitor yields, throughput, and labor utilization to hit target metrics while minimizing waste.
Team Leadership & Staffing:
Mentor, train, and manage 25-80+ hourly line workers; manage daily staffing, attendance, line coverage, and performance evaluations.
Quality & Food Safety Compliance:
Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), SSOPs, and the department HACCP plan; partner with Quality Assurance (QA) and USDA inspectors to ensure all product specifications and regulatory standards are met.
Workplace Safety:
Promote a culture of safety; enforce OSHA guidelines, proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe knife-handling / ergonomic practices on the line.
Process Improvement:
Collaborate with Maintenance and Operations leadership to minimize equipment downtime and drive continuous improvement (lean processing, yield optimization).
Reporting & Administration:
Maintain accurate daily production logs, yield reports, shift handover documentation, and payroll/attendance records.
Qualifications & Requirements Education & Experience:
High School Diploma/GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Poultry Science, Agriculture, Business, or related field preferred. 2-4+ years of supervisory experience in a poultry processing plant, specifically in Deboning (front/back half, portioning) or Packaging/Tray Pack .
Technical Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of USDA regulations, HACCP, SSOPs, and OSHA safety protocols in food processing. Understanding of yield management, line speeds, and food safety standards.
Skills & Abilities:
Proven leadership, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills. Strong decision-making, time management, and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer proficiency (MS Excel, Word, or plant management software). Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred. #jdp
