Status:
Part-time, Year-round, Non-benefited Reports to : Propagation Manager Position Summary The Part-Time Propagation Sticking Assistant supports plant production by preparing and sticking vegetative cuttings according to established propagation protocols. This position requires attention to detail, accuracy, efficiency, and the ability to use the company's in-house production system. Essential Duties and Responsibilities a) Prepare and stick vegetative cuttings according to established propagation protocols and production schedules. b) Maintain correct plant identification, labeling, quantities, and tray requirements throughout the sticking process. c) Use the company's in-house production system to review propagation protocols, verify production information, and record completed work. d) Accurately enter cutting quantities and other required production information as work is completed. e) Handle cuttings and plant material carefully to maintain quality and minimize damage or waste. f) Maintain an efficient, clean, organized, and sanitary work area. g) Properly clean and sanitize tools, work surfaces, and equipment according to established procedures. h) Identify and report shortages, plant quality concerns, incorrect information, or other production discrepancies to propagation staff. i) Follow established procedures and ask designated propagation staff for direction when plant material or production requirements are unclear. j) Assist with staging and organizing plant material, trays, labels, and supplies needed for propagation. Additional Duties and Responsibilities a) Assist with transplanting, production, shipping, field operations, and other departments as needed. b) Properly operate and care for company-issued tools, equipment, and devices. c) Assist with routine equipment cleaning and maintenance. d) Participate in training opportunities as appropriate. e) Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Qualifications Dependable and able to work consistently on scheduled production days. Good attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive work accurately and efficiently. Comfortable using computers, tablets, and other basic technology. Willing and able to learn and regularly use the company's in-house production system. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established production protocols. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate respectfully with coworkers and supervisors. Ability to work independently after training and recognize when questions or problems should be brought to propagation staff. Greenhouse, nursery, agricultural, or production experience is helpful but not required. Physical and Environmental Requirements This is an active greenhouse production position requiring regular physical work in greenhouse and outdoor growing environments. Work for extended periods in greenhouse environments that may be hot, humid, cold, or wet depending on the season and production needs. Work during periods of high greenhouse temperatures, particularly during spring and summer production. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions as required. Frequently lift and carry 5-30 lbs unassisted. Spend extended periods standing and walking on concrete, gravel, and uneven surfaces. Frequently bend, reach, kneel, squat, push, pull, and lift. Perform repetitive work involving hands and arms, including handling trays, plants, and cuttings. Safely work around greenhouse equipment, irrigation systems, fertilizers, and crop protection products. Compensation and Schedule Hourly Rate Starting wage: $15.00 per hour Schedule Typically Wednesday-Friday, approximately 12-18 hours/week Daily and weekly hours may vary based on seasonal production needs and production targets. This is a part-time, year-round, non-benefited position Employment Conditions As a condition of employment, employees are required to comply with all Perennial Favorites policies, procedures, and workplace standards, as amended from time to time. Employees are also required to comply with our Perennial Favorites Drug and Alcohol Policy. Employees may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing and testing based on reasonable suspicion. Refusal to submit to a required test or a confirmed positive test result will result in termination of employment.
