Role Description This is a part-time on-site role for an Aquatic Specialist at Splashy Fish located in Springfield, VA. The Aquatic Specialist will be responsible for daily care and maintenance of aquatic environments, including feeding and monitoring fish, cleaning tanks and filters, and ensuring water quality. Additionally, the Aquatic Specialist will assist customers with selecting appropriate fish and accessories, provide education on aquatic life, and handle customer inquiries and concerns.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Your role is important and below are some of the fundamental job duties that make your work unique. Comfortably and proficiently handle and care for various types and species of aquatic life Maintain honesty and integrity in the work area Provide daily care and maintenance for a variety of aquatic species, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring water quality Assist with the design and set up of aquariums and aquatic habitats Maintain accurate records and logs of inventory levels and water quality Provide exceptional customer service and answer questions related to aquatic life care and maintenance Prepare local customer orders and pack them Prepare shipping customer orders and pack the order. Receive, acclimate aquatic fish, and put away inventory. Load and unload boxes from trucks for shipment. Ability to move merchandise Workdays are flexible Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, including but not limited to delivering orders to customer cars as a local pick-up or curbside pick-up, receiving and shipping inventory from trucks and vehicles Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company interests Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes such as caring for aquatic life, maintaining proper water quality, setting up and maintaining displays and merchandise kits for sale, and placing aquatic life orders

You have these minimum qualifications: Candidates must be 18 years of age or older with the ability to acknowledge and comply with the job requirements and safety guidelines Strong verbal and written English Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions Ability to go up and down stairs (where applicable) Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities Physical ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds, and perform maintenance tasks It would be useful if you have: Knowledge of aquatic ecosystem maintenance and fish care Experience in maintaining water quality and aquarium equipment Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions Previous experience in a similar role or education in aquatic sciences is a plus
