To Be Determined Job Description The Special Services School Bus Aide assists in providing safe, efficient, and compassionate transportation for students with disabilities and other special needs. The aide works under the direction of the Transportation Director and bus driver to ensure students are safely loaded, transported, supervised, and unloaded while following all district policies and state and federal regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist students with boarding and exiting the school bus in a safe and respectful manner. Operate the wheelchair lift safely and efficiently to load and unload students who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices. Properly secure wheelchairs, safety restraints, harnesses, and other required equipment before the bus is in motion. Assist students with fastening and adjusting safety harnesses, seat belts, and other approved restraint systems as required by each student's transportation plan. Provide physical assistance to students with mobility limitations during loading, unloading, and emergency situations. Must be able to lift 100 lbs.
