Immediately Job Description The job of Transportation Assistant is done for the purpose of assisting students during transport to and from school and/or special activities; and ensuring the saftey and sanitation of assigned vehicles. Essential Functions Assesses potential emergency situations on the bus/van and within loading and unloading zones Assists students with safe loading and unloading Instructs students regarding rules and regulations Monitors students, (e.g. unruly, disruptive, abusive language, etc.) Monitors students with special needs until released to teacher, instructional assistant, parent, etc. Prepares documentation, (e.g. incident reports/student behavior code, passenger misconduct, etc.) Reports observations and/or incidents, (e.g. discipline, accidents, any physical or mental changes pertaining to students, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) Secures students and/or equipment with restraints, tie downs, (e.g. wheelchairs, seat belts, operating lift as needed, etc.) Assists other personnel as needed Qualifications Experience desired Pass a criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English This is a 10 month School Year position only.
