In 2024, we helped over 1,200 individuals and families find safety and stability. Join our innovative Dignity Bus Program, providing safe overnight shelter with dignity, structure, and care.   • 7:00 AM Job Overview The Bus Attendant is responsible for overseeing overnight shelter operations on the Dignity Bus.
This role focuses primarily on guest supervision, maintaining a clean and organized environment, assisting with nightly routines, and ensuring the safety and comfort of all guests throughout the shift. While minimal driving may occasionally be required, this position is primarily hands-on shelter support and overnight operations. Key Responsibilities Guest Support & Overnight Operations Welcome and check in guests nightly Assign beds and review program expectations Monitor guest behavior and maintain a calm, respectful environment Ensure guests shower and complete nightly hygiene routines Conduct regular walk-throughs and wellness checks throughout the night Enforce quiet hours and overnight program rules Wake guests in the morning and supervise departures Cleaning & Laundry Wash, dry, fold, and organize linens and blankets Maintain cleanliness of the bus, bathrooms, and common areas Restock hygiene supplies and cleaning materials Assist with sanitation and infection control procedures Ensure beds and guest spaces are reset daily Safety & Documentation Monitor cameras and overnight activity Complete shift logs, incident reports, and attendance records Report maintenance or safety concerns immediately Monitor lighting, HVAC systems, and generator status as needed Respond calmly and professionally during emergencies or conflicts Additional Duties Assist with bus setup and breakdown as needed Support team operations and guest engagement efforts Perform other duties as assigned This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities and duties may change based on program needs. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred Experience working in shelters, security, customer service, healthcare, hospitality, or human services preferred Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations Strong communication and boundary-setting skills Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and respond in emergency situations Ability to pass a background check and drug screening Basic computer skills for logs and documentation Preferred Traits Dependable and punctual Compassionate but able to maintain professional boundaries Comfortable working overnight shifts Strong observation and problem-solving skills Experience working with vulnerable populations preferred Cleaning, laundry, or facility maintenance experience is a plus Compensation & Benefits $18.00
