July 23, 2026 Detailed Description To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Helps children on and off bus; Aids children in crossing street; Loads and unloads children in wheel chairs; Assists in keeping discipline on school bus; Places children in seat belts, making sure they are securely fastened; Discusses with the school Principals and parents problems which arise on bus; Assists children who become ill on bus; and Makes and prepares reports. Job Requirements The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Good knowledge of care and discipline of handicapped and children with special needs; Ability to deal patiently and effectively with children; Ability to deal courteously and effectively with school Principals and parents; Sincere interest in helping children who are handicapped and have special needs and in their safety; Physical strength and agility; and Willingness to work in varying and adverse weather conditions; patience and understanding; good physical condition.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Some experience in working with physically handicapped and/or children with special needs and completion of a standard high school course preferably supplemented by training in child behavior and traffic safety; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
