Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and attentive Head Start Bus Monitor to ensure the safety, well-being, and positive experience of young children during their transportation to and from school. In this vital role, you will supervise children on school buses, enforce safety regulations, and provide support for children with special needs. Your energetic presence will help foster a secure environment, promote good behavior, and facilitate effective communication with parents and school staff. Responsibilities Supervise children during bus transit, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times Enforce transportation safety regulations and school policies to maintain order on the bus Assist children with disabilities or special needs, providing necessary support and accommodations Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel regarding behavior or safety concerns Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive conduct and resolve conflicts calmly Conduct routine safety checks of the bus before and after routes, including evacuation procedures Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents, administering first aid or CPR when necessary Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to all safety regulations and policies Assist in the classrooms in-between bus runs Requirements Prior experience working with children, especially those with disabilities or special education needs Knowledge of behavior management techniques and conflict resolution skills Certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hire) Ability to handle physical disabilities support and assist children as needed Strong communication skills for parent interaction and team collaboration Experience in childcare or classroom settings is preferred but not mandatory Ability to remain alert, attentive, and proactive during long periods of supervision Join us in creating a safe, nurturing environment where young learners thrive!
