Job Description:
A bus aide plays an important role in assisting a school bus driver, helping to provide safe, orderly, and efficient transportation service for students. They support the needs of students during routine activities and emergency situations. The bus aide also supervises and manages the behavior of students and provides support for all students. Manually move, carry, pull, or push heavy objects such as wheelchairs. Supervising students Enforce safety rules and provide direction. Write student referrals when behavioral expectations are not met. Make sure all students are secure and when appropriate, secure restraining devices, i.e., seatbelts, harnesses, and toddler seats. Properly secure wheelchairs and wheelchair tie-downs. Care for the needs of special needs students. Effectively watch all students for any signs of danger or difficulties. Assist young or disabled students in boarding and departing the bus. Participate in scheduled emergency bus evacuation drills. Checking the bus after each school drop off in the am and after the last student from each route gets off in the afternoon. Helping to update route descriptions and seating charts. Keep the bus clean and prepare the bus for receiving students, i.e., adjusting seat belts, clearing debris from seats, etc.
Job Requirements:
Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and DOT physical 21 years or older
Wage Range:
18.00 - 18.00 per hour
