Job Description

School Bus Monitor / Special Needs Caring, compassionate individuals needed to assist school bus drivers during the transportation of special needs students to-and-from school daily and on field trip activities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidate... Must be at least 18 years of age Has a clean criminal history (background checks will be required) Is compassionate and willing to learn and support our children Can satisfactorily complete and pass all training and attend safety/in-service meetings in order to maintain qualifications Possesses a high degree of attention to detail and considerable dexterity to safely use various types of restraints, secure wheelchairs, etc Can relate to and work well with children, and maintain effective pupil behavior management Has high-level professional and diplomacy skills to work with students, fellow employees, parents, and school district personnel Exhibits strong communication and interpersonal skills Can lift and assist students when necessary
RESPONSIBILITIES
Hours:
Part-Time, Hourly, Mon-Fri Demonstrate compassion Assist in the safe transportation, loading and unloading of students with disabilities during bus routes Be on time and complete all assigned bus runs Complete training on bus lift operation, the securing of student wheelchairs in the bus and the securing of students into their seats with 5 point harnesses and/or other apparatuses that may be required Complete training on student support and supervision during transit Operate the bus lift to assist students on and off the bus Collaborate with the bus driver during the bus route to ensure a safe and efficient bus run Monitor student safety and needs during transit Communicate relevant and important information about any occurrence on the bus trip to families and school staff Follow all company and district policies Be flexible to the pace and needs of the children and the program Ensure compliance to all safety requirements Maintain cleanliness of the bus, report issues, and keep inventory of cleaning supplies Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with fellow employees, supervisors, students, parents, and school personnel, always promoting company goodwill Experience the team difference!
