Overview Join our dedicated team as a Special Needs Bus Monitor and play a vital role in ensuring the safe, comfortable, and positive transportation experience for students with disabilities and special needs. This energetic position involves supervising students during transit, supporting their behavioral and physical needs, and maintaining a secure environment on the bus. You will work closely with school staff, parents, and transportation teams to uphold safety standards while fostering a nurturing atmosphere for all students. Responsibilities Supervise and assist students with special education needs during bus transportation, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times Implement behavior management strategies tailored to individual student requirements to promote positive conduct and discipline Support students with physical disabilities by assisting with mobility, seating arrangements, and necessary accommodations Enforce school policies, safety regulations, and evacuation procedures to maintain a secure environment during transit Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation personnel regarding student needs, behaviors, or incidents Administer basic first aid and CPR when necessary, responding promptly to emergencies or health concerns on the bus Maintain confidentiality of student information while documenting incidents or behavioral issues accurately in compliance with school policies Requirements Prior experience working with children or students with disabilities in educational or childcare settings Knowledge of behavior management techniques for students with special education needs Certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hire) Familiarity with school policies, safety regulations, evacuation procedures, and confidentiality protocols Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and school staff Ability to handle conflict management situations calmly and professionally Physical ability to assist students with mobility challenges and perform safety-related tasks during transportation This role offers an engaging opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students' lives while working within a supportive team dedicated to safety and inclusion.
