Departmental Overview The Department of Recreation & Wellbeing provides competitive and recreational opportunities for students, faculty, staff and campus affiliated community members. In addition to the 30 sports clubs, the department offers a wide range of recreational activities and state of the art equipment. Position Summary Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Aquatics, the Aquatics Coordinator manages swim instruction and facility operations. This position supervises swim instructor leads and instructors, overseeing hiring, training, development, and scheduling to ensure all swim instruction shifts are covered. The Aquatics Coordinator maintains regular communication with the aquatics team, supports safety audits and in-service trainings, and coordinates daily recreation operations at the Spieker Aquatic Complex, Golden Bear swimming pool, and Strawberry Canyon swimming pools. Additionally, this position designs and implements recreational aquatics programs for participants of all ages, manages daily facility scheduling via 25 Live, and coordinates critical safety certifications for department and campus groups. • 35% Supervises approximately 30-40 swim instructor employees and 3-4 swim instructor leads (students and part time staff).

Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates swim instructor program staff. Assist with monitoring work performance, documenting and addressing performance violations of job description, performance standards, and/or work rules as necessary. Schedules staff, reviews and approves employee payroll. Serves as a backup to the Assistant Director of aquatics for scheduling, training, and staff conduct for all aquatics staff (including lifeguards). Programming

• 20% Plans, organizes and implements instructional swim program for youth and adults. Tracks swim lessons progression for each student. Supports planning of other aquatics related programming including lifeguard instruction and in-service days. Scheduling and Operations
• 20% Submits requests for use of aquatic facilities. Serves as backup to the Scheduling Coordinator when needed. Oversees equipment inventory, maintenance and storage for instructional swim and aquatics safety and first aid equipment. Supports ongoing maintenance of aquatics facilities including general and daily pool maintenance including chemical checks. Risk & Safety
• 10% Assist the Risk & Policy Compliance Officer and/or Assistant Director of Aquatics with department and aquatic emergency training.

certification classes for the department and aquatics staff, and Lifeguard certification classes. Policies

• 5% Designs, revises and implements program policies and procedures including identifying and managing program safety risks, making risk-avoidance adjustments to current operations, and preparing and implementing action plans to decrease risk factors. Promotion
• 5% Assists with marketing and promoting aquatics. Work closely with the Communications team to ensure programming is shared in various platforms and the Customer Service team to ensure programs are in the appropriate registration systems. Other duties as assigned
• 5% Required Qualifications Has thorough knowledge of aquatics program activity and industry best practices.

Must be proficient in the use of basic computer applications. Thorough knowledge of and/or ability to learn campus policies and procedures. Position requires strong leadership and inter-personal skills and the ability to work effectively across the organization. Strong service orientation, program management, sound judgment and decision-making, critical thinking, develops original ideas, creative problem solving skills in a varied and challenging environment. Must be able to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check.

The budgeted annual range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $68,000.00
