Job Description

Extended Day & Camp Counselor Kids Connection | Part-Time | School Year & Summer Kids Connection is seeking caring, energetic, and enthusiastic Extended Day & Camp Counselors to join our team! This position helps create a safe, engaging, and joyful environment where elementary-aged children can learn, play, and grow through enriching activities, games, and positive relationships. Working alongside our instructors and leadership team, Counselors support daily programming while building meaningful connections with students and ensuring every child has a fun and successful experience.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare, organize, and set up project materials, lesson supplies, activity spaces, and classroom materials before each program day. Assist instructors with leading age-appropriate activities, games, crafts, STEM projects, and enrichment experiences. Support daily lessons and activities by helping facilitate projects and encouraging student participation. Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every child feels supported and encouraged. Supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities, lunch, snack, recess, and transitions while maintaining active supervision at all times. Build positive relationships with students and encourage their social, emotional, and personal growth through positive guidance and encouragement. Follow all health, safety, emergency, and licensing procedures. Communicate professionally with students, families, coworkers, and supervisors. Assist with school operations, including lunch supervision, student transportation from nearby schools (when assigned), front office support, and school events. Help maintain organized, clean, and well-stocked classrooms, activity areas, and program supplies before, during, and after each program day.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or GED preferred. College coursework in Education, Child Development, or a related field is a plus. Previous experience working with children in a school, camp, childcare, or recreational setting is preferred, but not required. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Ability to stay organized, multitask, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Passion for working with elementary-aged children and creating a fun, positive experience for every child. Pediatric CPR certification (or willingness to obtain through Kids Connection) and successful background clearance required.
Schedule:
School Year (September-Early June)
Extended Day Program:
Monday-Friday Program hours: 11:00 AM-6:00 PM Up to 6-hour shifts (maximum 25 hours per week) Summer (Mid-June-August) Monday-Friday Program hours: 7:30 AM-6:00 PM 7-8 hour shifts with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break Applicants must be available for at least two consecutive months during the summer camp season. Please note:
This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay ranges from $20.00-$23.00 per hour , depending on experience and Kids Connection program tenure.
