Must be 15 years of age or older to apply for this position.
Note:
Teen Zone Aide position is for the academic schoolyear and not summer camps.
DEFINITION
Under supervision of the Teen Coordinator and Teen Director, provide supervision of teens as well as be a positive role model and assist with activity planning and implementation. Program hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3-6pm, Wednesdays from 2-6pm and Fridays from 3-5pm. Teen Zone Aide is required to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events. Approximately 15 hours per week with the potential for more hours.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Ability to motivate & interact with teens ages 10-14. Possess strong leadership skills in one or more of the following areas: art, crafts, sports, special events, multi-media. Lead teen activities. Create & maintain a positive environment in the Teen Zone Program. Maintain structure and discipline within a group setting, while encouraging and promoting student participation in a positive manner. Take direction from supervisors. The ability to speak English clearly and understandably. Perform related duties as required. Have strong customer service skills and the ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public. Work unassisted with a minimal supervision. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, co-workers, other agencies and the general public. Must be able to lift 50lbs
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Teen Zone Aide will assist in leading Teen Zone, a daily drop-in program for local middle school students. While on duty, Teen Zone Aide may be responsible for check-in and check-out of participants, oversee an in-house snack bar, and facilitate set-up of the Teen Zone game room (including setting up video games, ping pong table, quiet homework spaces, and more). Light cleaning duties will be expected.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
