POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of the Activity Assistant job position is to assist in the planning and implementation of activities as they meet the needs of the resident care plans in accordance with current federal, state and local standards that govern the facility, and as directed by the Director of Activities. The Activity Assistant will demonstrate patience, initiative and willingness to assist residents that may be difficult or in discomfort. They will relate all pertinent information concerning a resident's condition to a charge nurse as required. They will be committed to always doing the right thing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning, organizing and conducting activities for the facility Involving residents and family members in the planning whenever possible Arranging transportation for field trips when necessary Ensuring all charted activity progress notes are descriptive and detailed Coordinating activities with other departments and working collaboratively with all staff Following Infection and Control policies and Safety and Sanitation procedures Reporting any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, or other hazardous materials to a supervisor immediately Protecting each residents file and data with confidentially per HIPAA standards Abiding with all facility policies and procedures including not disclosing user ID codes and passwords Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. REQUIREMENTS
Education / Licensure High school diploma or GED Qualifications / Experience Minimum of 6 months experience in skilled nursing preferred Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language Must be able to follow directions Working Conditions May encounter frequent interruptions May be involved with residents, family and government agencies May be requested to work beyond scheduled working hours at times May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses Physical Requirements Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day Repetitive hand motion Must be able to push, pull, move and or lift up to 25 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 15 feet Ability to read fine prints
