Recreation Specialist and Director of Parks and Recreations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

1. Experience working in parks and recreation is preferred

Certificates/Licenses:

1. Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate

• Aquatics 2. Water Safety Instructor preferred
• Aquatics 3. Certification as a Certified Pool Operator or AFO preferred
• Aquatics 4.

Current Colorado Driver's License 5. Current first aid and CPR certification

1. Demonstrates the ability to use parks and recreation software 2. Knowledge of parks and recreation programing 3. Demonstrates the ability to provide assist recreation departments 4. Demonstrate the ability to help teach a variety of recreation programs 5. Demonstrates the skill and ability to assist in developing and coordinating special events

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Assists in developing, coordinating, and supervising parks and recreation education programs 2. Assists in scheduling, organizing, and directing recreation programs 3. Provides instruction as assigned 4. Assists in recognizing, planning, and initiating recreation program to meet the needs of the community 5. Assists the Recreational Specialist in coordinating youth and adult programs in the community 6. Assists in producing manuals, rules and regulations, instructional guides and class guides as assigned 7. Assists in developing and maintaining positive public relations, advertising and promotion of Parks and Recreations Services programs 8. Assists with maintenance and cleaning as assigned 9. Attends meetings with Recreation Specialist as assigned 10. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with co-workers, and interact with colleagues in a professional manner 11. Models an effective understanding and respect for diversity and inclusion 12. Incorporates legal rights and due process for children with special needs 13. Demonstrates a positive attitude towards change 14. Performs such other tasks as may, from time to time, be assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT
