Nature of Work Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator
- Athletics, the Sports Camp Program Aid is responsible for teaching and supervising children in the Sports Camps offered by the District.
Essential Functions Supervise daily camp activities and aid in the instruction of specialized activities such as flag football, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, Frisbee, golf, and cheerleading. Monitor children by taking name and number count. Report accidents and injuries that occur in camp. Provide first aid as needed. Clean up activity area at the end of shift. Report absenteeism and arrange for substitution. Attend orientation and scheduled staff meetings. Report any problem situations to the Athletics Coordinator Dress appropriately for camp activities. Possess a highly defined focus towards both internal and external guest service. Other duties as assigned. Skills Customer service skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Must be highly motivated, organized, and creative. Excellent problem solving skills. Knowledge Thorough knowledge of modern principles, methods, practices and equipment relating to the functional areas of responsibility. Knowledge of needs and age appropriate activities for children. Knowledge of instruction methods with children. Thorough knowledge of issues relating to and pertaining to children. Knowledge of District policies and procedures. Abilities Ability to demonstrate activities. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, parents, the general public, community agencies, and civic organizations. Required Training, Experience & Qualifications Must be at least 16 years of age Children's Program Aids who are under 18 years of age must work directly under the supervision of the program director or program leaders. Must demonstrate ability to work with children. Current CPR and First Aid Certifications.
