Job Description

Summary:
Woodmen Hills Metro District is a quasi-municipal corporation and political subdivision of the State of Colorado. Located near Peyton Colorado, in the Falcon region, just east of Colorado Springs. The Sports and Youth Program Coordinator is dedicated to the safe and effective operation of the sports and youth program areas for the Woodmen Hills Metro District, Parks and Recreation Department. The Sports and Youth Program Coordinator will fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. This position will actively participate in the department's program team to accomplish organizational goals. Duties and responsibilities The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons. Provide leadership and quality customer service to the sports and youth programs. Complete annual evaluations and conduct mid-year reviews for staff. Give coaching and development opportunities throughout the evaluation period to direct reports. Lead, organize, and implement the day-to-day operations of the Sports and Youth Programs to include but not limited to: o
Youth Sports:
Responsible for setting up for league play, monitoring officials, relaying league updates, input event results, assist with marketing distribution, inform participants of changes, and clean up when the league is finished. o
Adult Sports:
Responsible for setting up for league play, monitoring officials, relaying league updates, input event results, assist with marketing distribution, inform participants of changes, and clean up when the league is finished. o
Youth Camps:
Responsible for setting up the camp, assisting the camp leader or leading the camp, relay camp updates, input event results if needed, assist with marketing distribution, inform participants of changes, and clean up when the camp is finished. o
Parents Night Out:
Assist the Facility Attendant or the Facility and Program Manager with the administration, management, and supervision of the Parents Night Out Program. This includes event set up, playing games with participants, ensuring safety, and event clean up. o
Birthday Parties:
Assist the Facility Attendant or the Facility and Program Manager with the administration, management, and supervision of Birthday Parties. This includes event set up, playing games with participants, ensuring safety, and event clean up. o
Officiating:
Officiate as needed. Host training sessions for officials in rules of sport, etiquette, good sportsmanship, and maintain good relations with parents and spectators. o
Special Events:
Lead, assist, or support special events as assigned Administrative Duties Prepare operating and procedural manuals. Regularly review and update operations handbooks and manuals. Maintains records and prepares periodic reports as directed including attendance, program registration, personnel reports, and others as needed. Serve on assigned departmental and District committees to support the mission, vision, and core values of the Parks and Recreation Department. Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission, vision, and core values of Parks and Recreation and the Woodmen Hills Metro District. Attend professional development conferences, workshops, seminars, and advocates for professional development throughout the department to stay abreast of current trends and industry standards. This position is required to regularly attend programs and use the various facilities and equipment periodically to ensure that they are meeting or exceeding department and industry standards and risk management guidelines. Maintains a culture of providing excellent customer service and ensures consistency across all facilities and programs. Responds tactfully and in a timely fashion to inquiries and problems in person, by email, phone and mail providing helpful information and explanations in line with District policies and procedures. Thoughtfully handles confrontational or stressful interactions. Coordinates in developing, planning, administering, and implementing revenue generating events and programs. Work collaboratively with other members of the Parks and Recreation Department and District staff to conduct special events and programs for the Woodmen Hills community. Promotions and Marketing In collaboration with the department leadership team, advertise and promote the Recreation Centers and program areas. Review website information and marketing materials for updated and accurate content. Collaborate with the department leadership team in researching and recommending marketing and promotional strategies to promote services and facility use. Ensure marketing materials, messaging, and digital platforms are consistent with department and District marketing policies and guidelines. Enforce and abide by all District policies, procedures, and regulations. Accurately account for time worked as required by the department and supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and 1-3 years of demonstrated experience in facility management and recreation-based programming; or, 1 year of post-secondary education or formal training and 4 years of demonstrated experience in facility management and recreation-based programming. Certification Requirements Red Cross Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, AED, and First Aid. Must be completed within 30 days of hire. Background Check For applicants over 18 years of age, must pass a pre-employment criminal background check. Work Schedule Typical work schedule will be Tuesday - Saturday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (varies) This position will be required to work some weekends, evenings, and early morning hours to support staff and programming.
Preferred Qualifications:
3 years of sport and youth program management experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Ability to learn and be proficient with sports and youth activity equipment. Organized with high attention to detail. Strong customer service skills. Ability to enforce established policy, procedure, and guidelines. Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions. Creative, flexible, and innovative team player. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Required to sit, stand, climb, jump, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must also be able to project voice over gymnasium and field area noise so that the participants are able to hear. Work will be performed both inside and outside. Compensation Full Pay Range, $45,000 - $72,800, annual salary. Hiring Range, $49,920 - $53,000, annual salary, based on qualifications, knowledge, and experience. Annual performance-based raises will be issued at the District's and Department's discretion. Additional Information This position is classified as non-essential. As an essential employee it is required to report to work during weather related issues and other emergency situations. This includes clearing snow when the District is closed, during holiday hours, and off schedule times.
Pay:
$45,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
