The Assistant Director helps create a safe, positive, and engaging environment that promotes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and enjoyment of the game.

Fall (8 weeks)
Hours:
Approximately 3-8 hours per week Qualifications Must be at least 16 years of age, and available for the full duration of the program. Demonstrated knowledge of the game of field hockey through playing, coaching, or instructional experience. Ability to work effectively with youth participants, parents, and fellow staff members. Proven communication, leadership, and organizational skills. CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred; training may be provided by the Parks and Recreation Department. May be required to successfully pass a background check. Job Description Assist the Field Hockey Director with implementing clinic activities, skill instruction, drills, and practice sessions. Provide direct coaching and support to participants in developing field hockey fundamentals, including stick handling, passing, receiving, shooting, and defensive skills. Assist with the supervision of staff, volunteers, and participants during all program activities. Help ensure all necessary equipment, including balls, cones, goals, and goalie equipment, is available and properly set up before each session. Maintain familiarity with participant emergency information and assist with emergency response and First Aid when necessary. Report all accidents, incidents, behavioral concerns, and safety issues to the Field Hockey Director. Assist in maintaining participant attendance records and keeping an updated roster on hand. Ensure that only registered participants are allowed on the field and direct registration inquiries to the Parks and Recreation Department. Help coordinate scrimmages, games, and special events as directed by the Field Hockey Director. Occasional travel may be required. Monitor field conditions and report any hazards or unsafe conditions to the Field Hockey Director. Assist with equipment collection, storage, and field cleanup following each session. Remain on-site until all participants have been safely picked up by an authorized parent or guardian. Submit timesheets and other required documentation in a timely manner. In the absence of the Field Hockey Director, assume responsibility for program operations and serve as the primary on-site contact.
