The position promotes safe, accessible, engaging, and age-appropriate physical activity that supports mobility, strength, balance, endurance, independence, and overall well-being. The Fitness Manager assesses participant needs and abilities, develops and delivers individual and group fitness programming, monitors participant progress, coordinates fitness contractors, supports center-wide health and wellness initiatives, and maintains a safe, clean, and functional fitness environment. The role works collaboratively with WSWC staff, participants, caregivers, contractors, and community partners to advance ERFSC wellness goals and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Plan, implement, and lead safe, engaging individual and group fitness programs for older adults, including strength, balance, flexibility, mobility, and cardiovascular activities. Conduct fitness and functional assessments, monitor participant progress, and modify programming based on individual abilities, goals, and safety considerations. Educate participants on proper exercise techniques, equipment use, fall prevention, mobility, and healthy aging. Coordinate fitness contractors, schedules, certifications, clearances, and program coverage. Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and functional fitness environment and coordinate equipment maintenance or repair as needed. Track participation, assessments, outcomes, and program activities; prepare monthly reports and support grant and program reporting requirements. Collaborate with WSWC staff on health promotion, evidence-based wellness programming, special events, and other center-wide initiatives. Create a welcoming, motivating, culturally responsive environment that encourages participant engagement and supports ERFSC's wellness goals. Knowledge of community engagement and culturally responsive service approaches; familiarity with issues affecting older adults and residents of Ward 7 is preferred. Skills Strong knowledge of fitness instruction, exercise safety, assessment, and modifications for older adults. Ability to motivate and effectively engage participants with varying fitness levels and abilities. Strong communication, interpersonal, group instruction, and customer-service skills. Excellent organization, scheduling, documentation, and time-management skills. Ability to recognize safety concerns, exercise sound judgment, and respond appropriately to participant needs. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, contractors, caregivers, and community partners. Culturally responsive, participant-centered approach with a commitment to confidentiality and professionalism. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and basic database/program-management systems.
