$18.50-22.50 based on experience About Janney+ Janney+ provides before and after care, enrichment, language programs, and camps for students in PK4-5th grade . We are committed to creating programs that are safe, professional, and enjoyable for students and families. Position Summary Janney+ Before & After Care Counselors create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students before and after school. Counselors build positive relationships with students, lead activities, support daily routines, and work as part of a team to ensure students have a great experience at Janney+. Key Responsibilities Actively supervise students and maintain a safe and positive environment. Build strong, respectful relationships with students in PK4-5th grade. Lead and participate in games, arts and crafts, outdoor play, recreation, and other activities. Support daily routines including arrival, dismissal, snack, homework/reading time, and transitions. Help students transition to and from Janney+ enrichment and language classes. Support students through conflicts and challenging moments using calm, respectful, and age-appropriate strategies. Follow Janney+ safety, attendance, emergency, and student support procedures. Communicate student concerns and program needs to the JAC Director or other Janney+ leaders. Maintain clean, organized program spaces and assist with end-of-day cleanup. Work collaboratively with counselors, instructors, and Janney+ leadership. Qualifications Experience working with children in a school, camp, childcare, recreation, tutoring, or youth program preferred. Experience with elementary-aged students is preferred. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to actively supervise and participate in indoor and outdoor activities. Must complete all required Janney+, DCPS, and background clearance requirements.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. College students and candidates with relevant youth experience are encouraged to apply.
