Veterans Preference Description Candidates are hired as vocational workers for six months on-the-job training at a training wage of $16.06 per hour plus City benefits. Candidates must reside in the focus area of Census Track 17, 18 or 20.02. See page 2 of the Target Local Hire Flyer for the map, which outlines the census tracks. Candidates who do not reside within Census Track 17, 18 or 20.02 are not eligible for the program. Candidates must complete a job readiness assessment and must be deemed job ready by CareerSource. GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Routine work of limited variety and complexity in recreational programs and activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assists in conducting activities which may require performance of tasks outdoors under varying climatic conditions. Distributes equipment for games. Records center attendance. Assists in maintaining order and discipline. Checks equipment to assure that it is clean and in proper working order. Assists in instructing sewing, ceramics, arts and crafts, dancing, and games. Performs related clerical work. Copies center schedule for distribution to the administrative office. Answers telephone and gives information on center activities and schedules. Direct customer service is performed with City employees and with the public in person, by telephone, and two-way radio. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required. Minimum of 3 - 6 months experience dealing with public/customer service required. Must be able to read and write. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Must reside in Census Tract 17, 18 or 20.02.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
Valid Florida Operator's Driver's license a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of one or more activities involved in a community recreation program preferred. Knowledge of the aims of a community recreation program preferred. Ability to instruct program participants in varied recreational activities preferred. Ability to work with co-workers, the general public, and children. Ability to communicate to assist others.
