Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Fitness Lead is responsible for assisting the supervising director with the daily operation of the fitness program including the administration of all group exercise classes, fitness attendants, and other fitness activities in general. Primary duties include providing excellent customer service to members and program participants. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist with all group exercise schedules and class arrangements Supervise fitness attendants and schedules Supervision of fitness center maintenance including cleaning, repair, and preventive maintenance of all fitness center/group exercise equipment Assist with all Healthy Lifestyle Coaches for the Activate Coastal Georgia program Assist with Activate Coastal Georgia participants ensuring participation, satisfaction, and program delivery to active participants Report attendance counts, group fitness participation, fitness center needs to program director Assist with development and implementation of fitness challenges - minimum of 3 major challenges per year Assist with development and implementation of new group exercise and fitness program ideas Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants Willingly perform other duties as assigned This organization has zero tolerance for abuse and will not tolerate the mistreatment or abuse of consumers in its programs. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Fitness Lead is responsible for leading and supervising other fitness staff. Responsibilities may include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work may include monthly scheduling, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS
Minimum high school diploma required; associate degree preferred. Industry accepted fitness certifications and/or two years of experience in fitness related field. Sound working knowledge of accepted exercise and fitness principles. Ability to develop and implement fitness and group exercise programs. Ability to foster positive staff, peers, and program participants. Ability to supervise multiple part-time staff. CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment. Fitness certifications (Personal Training/Aerobics/ACE etc.). CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
