Job Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of routine tasks that may include: answering telephone calls; greeting the public; responding to emails; handling inquiries; setting up calendars; tracking data; scheduling for events; and designing flyers. Receives inquiries, concerns, complaints, and requests for assistance regarding areas of responsibility; and, when necessary, forwards information to the appropriate Parks and Recreation personnel. Registers program applicants; sells tickets; collects funds, and balances cash drawers. Assists staff by making needed equipment available and monitoring use. Observes and/or participates in activities. Serves as a park attendant; sets-up/removes sports equipment; inspects the grounds and surrounding areas; and reports conditions, hazards, or practices that may pose a threat to health and/or safety. Assists in organizing, monitoring, and interacting with various recreation and athletic activities; participates in special events; and may substitute as referee. May assist in providing security or parking services for events. Assists in craft related programs; ensures supplies are at hand. Assists individuals of all ages who may need assistance in participating in activities. Assists in set up for events/programs/activities such as stacking chairs, moving tables, sweeping, etc. Provides public information about park rules and regulations; and monitors related conformance. Performs regular maintenance duties to maintain a safe environment (e.g., onsite cleaning, monitoring of bathrooms, trash removal, maintaining logs, and signage). Responds to emergencies in accordance with safety policy and procedures; treats minor accidents; and completes all paperwork/documentation including incident reports. Enters data and updates databases related to job assignment. Stocks and takes inventories of related supplies and equipment. Manages and records accurate logs, such as score books, maintenance, intermediary financial transactions, and water reports depending on assignment. Wears appropriate attire or uniform for daily activities. May operate a small utility vehicle (e.g. golf cart); or may operate and carry a department cell phone and/or hand-held radio depending on assigned area. Follows daily schedules and assigned rotations. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Requires a High School diploma or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefers six months of experience related to assigned area.
Licenses or Certifications:
Requires a valid State of Georgia driver's license. Requires certifications (or acquire within 30 days of hire): First Aid; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Special Requirements:
Must pass background check, pre-employment physical exam/drug test; and random testing. Must be able to work some nights, weekends, and holidays. May be required to clean up contaminated areas, objects, and/or clothing as situations necessitate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of rules and regulations governing competitive athletic games such as softball/baseball and knowledge of scoring. Knowledge about sports, recreation, crafts, and leisure time activities. Knowledge of basic first aid, CPR, AED, and necessary precautions to take used in recreational programming. Skill in communicating, both verbally and in writing. skill in working with computers and software related to job assignment. Ability to organize. Ability to effectively work with others and the public. Ability to perform simple math calculations. Ability to interact tactfully with children, adults, and seniors participating in programs and activities. Ability to follow detailed instructions
Physical Demands:
The work is medium work and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: climbing, crouching, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, reaching, speaking, standing, stooping, visual acuity, and walking.
Work Environment:
Works inside in an environmentally controlled space part of the time; and will also work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat/cold) for extended periods of time and be exposed to various elements including sunlight, bright/dim lights, dust/pollen, noise, and moving vehicles and machinery.

Starting Base Pay Rate:
