Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our assisted living and nursing home facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care, particularly with individuals living with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other memory-related conditions. This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through recreational therapy and social interaction. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and implement a variety of recreational and social activities tailored to the interests and needs of residents. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety. Foster a supportive environment that encourages participation and engagement among residents. Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to assess the needs of residents and adapt activities accordingly. Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress in activities. Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, promoting positive social interactions. Assist in managing schedules for activities to ensure a diverse range of options are available to all residents. Participate in training sessions related to aging issues counseling, dementia care, and caregiving techniques. Experience Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or long-term care is preferred. Familiarity with Alzheimer's care, memory care programs, or recreational therapy is highly desirable. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is a plus. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively interacting with residents, families, and staff members. Background in social work or related fields is beneficial but not required.
