Activities Assistant Westminster, MD 21157 From $16 an hour From $16 an hour
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under the direction of the Director of Activities ("DOA"), provides structured recreational activities for individuals and groups. Provides programs that will support individual leisure, independence and optimal level of functioning.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implements and evaluates recreation programs for individuals and groups. Maintains medical records and other reports as assigned by the DOA. Participates with other allied health disciplines in patient care conferences aimed at meeting the needs of the total patient and family. Identifies, reports, and records unusual incidents or problems in accordance with standard operation procedures. Assists volunteers as assigned by the DOA. Assists with transportation to residents attending activities in the community. Make one-to-one visits with residents within the therapeutic recreation context Maintain a clean, safe environment and provide necessary materials and clean-up for activity programs Offer direction and support to staff members during mutual efforts to provide leisure opportunities to the residents of the facility Interact and communicate with patients, family members, co-workers, physicians and the general public in a courteous and professional manner. Adhere to productivity, budgetary, and quality assurance guidelines Assist with ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment Report to duty as assigned and on time
MINIUM POSITION QUALIFIC ATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
One year experience in activities program required. Prior experience in long-term care setting preferred
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to communicate both verbally and in English at a level normally achieved by a high school graduate. Must be able to physically turn, lift, and/or support the weight of the adult residents safely during activities and in getting in and out of the van. Needs to assist in patient transfers, pushing wheelchairs, and carrying equipment
