Starting at $44,158 - pay commensurate with experience
Schedule:
5 days/week, 260 days/year
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, Human Services, or a related field required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with school-age children in a licensed childcare, school, camp, recreation, or similar program.
  • Experience coordinating before- and after-school programs, summer camps, or other youth programs preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate educational, recreational, and enrichment programming.
  • Knowledge of child development and effective behavior management practices for school-age children.
  • Knowledge of Michigan childcare licensing regulations and compliance requirements (LARA).
  • Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school administrators and district staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Ability to supervise children in indoor and outdoor settings, participate in program activities, stand and walk for extended periods, and lift up to 40 pounds.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of the district's school-age aftercare and summer camp programs.
  • Develop and implement engaging educational, recreational, and enrichment activities that meet the developmental needs of school-age children.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate program staff.
  • Ensure compliance with State of Michigan childcare licensing regulations, district policies, and all applicable health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios and provide a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Manage student registration, attendance, and required program documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding enrollment, program activities, student needs, and general program information.
  • Prepare and monitor the program budget, including purchasing program supplies and materials.
  • Coordinate daily program logistics, including snacks, transportation, field trips, and special events.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and confidential student information.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, staff, school administrators, and community partners.
  • Address student behavior using positive behavior management strategies and district-approved practices.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and ensure staff are trained in established safety procedures.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness, monitor participation, and recommend improvements to enhance program quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
