Rate:
$33.94- $45.
NOTE:
This position is limited to 1,000 hours/year and works 20-24 hours/week on a year-round basis. Do you love turning data into insights that drive smarter decisions and better community experiences? Oakland County Parks and Recreation is looking for a curious, analytical, and detail-oriented data professional to help transform data into meaningful insights that support parks, programs, and services across the community. In this role, you'll collect, analyze, and interpret data from a wide variety of sources—including point-of-sale systems, surveys, census data, financial reports, GIS, social media analytics, and marketing reports—to help leadership make informed operational and strategic decisions. Minimum QualificationsEXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in business, statistics, data science, computer science, mathematics, parks and recreation or related field of study; AND Have at least three (3) years of experience in data analysis projects; OR 2. Possess an Associate's degree or equivalent amount of education from an accredited college or university with course work in statistics, database management, data analytics, or website management; AND Have at least five (5) years of experience in related data analysis projects.ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency in Python and experience with data visualization tools, preferably Tableau, or MS Power BI. Experience working with a variety of data sources, such as point of sale, survey, census, and financial systems. Exposure to Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps, Workday reporting or other Enterprise applications. Ability to conduct advanced statistical analyses and communicate findings to non- technical stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Collects and analyzes data related to the operations of the Parks and Recreation Department from a variety of sources, including point of sale, survey, census, financial, GIS, and other external sources. Develops and maintains data reporting systems, including dashboards and other visualizations, that provide insights into departmental performance and trends. Collaborates with departmental leadership to identify key performance indicators and develop reporting that tracks progress towards goals. Conducts ad-hoc analyses and develops recommendations to drive departmental decision-making. Monitors and analyzes data quality to ensure data integrity and identify areas for improvement. Partners with external data sources to integrate data into the departmental reporting and analysis processes. Communicates data findings and recommendations to departmental leadership and stakeholders. Develops and maintains documentation of departmental data sources and reporting processes. Maintains current knowledge of industry trends and advancements in data analysis and visualization tools. Prepares training guides and trains staff on appropriate data entry procedures to ensure data integrity. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
May present findings to management, Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission, or other internal and external audiences for education and awareness. May work as a liaison with outside vendors on specialized software. Audits or performs testing of software processes to ensure data is presented appropriately.ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to communicate accurately to convey information using tact and diplomacy. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and/or be a passenger.WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is carried out in a typical office environment.SUPERVISION EXERCISED
May serve as a project lead over lower-level clerical staff, operations staff, interns, or students to ensure appropriate system use and data entry standards are followed. May be required to travel to other locations during the course of work.IMPORTANT NOTE
