A Recreation or Activities Worker leads tours and vacation trips in outdoor or wilderness areas. Leads hiking, rafting, canoeing, climbing or diving activities for a group. Provides specialized knowledge about the history, terrain, ecology or wildlife for the tour. Manages transportation, equipment and provisions and assists with cooking.
Assistant Intramural Coordinator is responsible for helping provide a program consisting of a variety of activities which will appeal to every Evangel University student, regardless of experience or ability. The following is an outline of responsibilities to help the Assistant Intramural Coordinator establish and maintain a quality intramural program. A. Work as a team member toward the enhancement of the Evangel University Intramural Sports program and help the Intramural Coordinator with the following: 1. Meet early in the fall semester with the Intramural Coordinator and other Student Intramural Staff to identify goals, review rules, regulations, procedures, and policies. 2. Help plan sports and tournaments for the entire academic year with tentative dates and times. 3. Assist with the organization of the Commuter Sport Representatives, Resident Hall Sport Representatives and Floor Sport Representatives. a. Explain their duties and responsibilities. b. Review rules, regulations, procedures, and policies. 4. Communicate with the Intramural Coordinator and your fellow Student Intramural Staff on any discipline problems or questions from the student body. a. If you are asked a question and you do not know the answer, do not make one up. Find out the correct answer and report back to the individual or group that asked the question. b. Work together at all times and support one another s decisions. B. Set up and maintain fields, gym and equipment. 1. Preparation for Flag Football. a. Set up flag football field scoreboard, pylons, and down markers b. Maintain equipment-check all belts, footballs, cones, stopwatches, wash refs jerseys. c. Check the condition of the field. Remove anything that may cause injury e.g. rocks, sticks. Fill in holes and ruts.. 2. Preparation for Basketball & Volleyball a. Basketball; beginning 15-20 minutes prior to game time: (1) Set-up scorer s tables. (2) Set-up time clocks (3) Put dividing curtain down (4) Set out player stat sheets (5) Provide warm-up balls from the intramural storeroom. b. Volleyball; beginning 15-20 minutes before game time: (1) Set-up nets. (2) Set-up scorer s tables. (3) Set-up time clocks (4) Put dividing curtain down (5) Set out player stat sheets (6) Provide warm-up balls from the intramural storeroom. C. Officials 1. Assist in the training of all officials on rules and policies before they can officiate. 2. Schedule officials so every contest is fair and played with officials. 3. Whenever possible, get collegiate athletes to officiate their respective sport. 4. Keep track of who officiated on what night and how many games they officiated. Make sure to turn this sheet in to the Intramural Coordinator who will give it to the Human Resources at the end of the pay period so refs can be paid. All officials are paid out of the intramural budget not Work Study. 5. All officials must see Human Resources before they can be paid. They must take two forms of ID. 6. Back your officials. D. Work with Administration 1. Never use other athletic coach s equipment/fields without asking first. 2. Keep positive relations with administration. E. Supervise Intramural Play 1. Observe officials and make sure they hustle and act in a professional manner. Provide an evaluation of each official as requested by the Intramural Coordinator. 2.
In case of an injury:
a. Always remain with the injured individual b. Send someone to contact Public Safety who will call an ambulance if needed. c. Record the name and type of injury of anyone injured. d. Report any injuries no matter how trivial to Intramural Coordinator. e. Together, we share responsibility for the successes and failures of the intramural program. This position is responsible on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings (6:30-10pm) during each corresponding sport season. Fall includes Football and one-night events. Spring includes indoor soccer, basketball, and volleyball.
