Overview Join our vibrant team as an Activities Assistant and become a vital part of enhancing the quality of life for residents in a dynamic senior living community. In this role, you will design, coordinate, and facilitate engaging recreational activities tailored to residents' interests and needs, fostering social connection, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. Duties Plan, organize, and execute a variety of engaging activities that promote socialization, cognitive health, and physical well-being for residents. Coordinate resident events such as outings, themed parties, exercise classes, arts and crafts sessions, and memory care activities. Build strong rapport with residents through personalized interactions and attentive communication to understand their preferences and needs. Assist residents with daily activities (Activities of Daily Living - ADLs) such as mobility support, dressing, or grooming during activities when needed. Maintain detailed records of resident participation in activities and monitor their responses to ensure positive experiences. Collaborate with team members to develop individualized activity plans that support residents' health goals and personal interests. Manage schedules efficiently to ensure timely preparation for events and seamless integration into daily routines. Experience Prior experience in assisted living facilities or nursing homes is highly preferred, especially with seniors who have dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Demonstrated knowledge of recreational therapy techniques and program development tailored to geriatric populations. Proven ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or memory impairments in a compassionate manner. Strong communication skills for engaging residents, families, and team members clearly and empathetically. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation purposes and activity planning. Experience coordinating resident events or programs within senior living or long-term care environments is advantageous. Background in caregiving or home & community care settings that involve working with geriatric patients enhances suitability for this role.
