Job Description

Supervise group exercise instructors and fitness consultants.
Education:
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Exercise Science or related field from a four-year college or university.
Work Experience:
minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a management position with specific experience in implementation of capital/operating budgets. Minimum of two years of experience in the fitness department of a health and fitness facility. Prior experience as a Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor, or Fitness Instructor.
Skills Abilities:
Excellent supervisory and management skills. Energetic, enthusiastic personality. Must be willing to work a varied schedule to include some early morning, evening, and weekend hours. Current CPR certification, certification in aquatic life-saving procedure, training in First Aid techniques, and a nationally recognized certification for Group Exercise and/or Personal Training required. Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting while on duty. Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required. Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast paced environment. Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests. Physical conditions are clean, neat and well lit. Maybe subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions need to be taken is essential. Climate control an ambient temperature variance may be experienced. Exposure to limited amounts of hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility. Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to emergency circumstances. Direct contact with blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply. Personal protective equipment is made available and must be worn. Supervise group exercise instructors and fitness consultants. Maintain safe, clean, and fully functional aerobic rooms. Audition, hire and train a strong, qualified versatile staff. Provide payroll with monthly attendance sheets. Monitor and evaluate Fitness Consultants and instructors on a regular basis. Attend regularly scheduled fitness and director meetings. Provide revenue generating specialty classes and programs to meet fitness program budget. Responsible with incentive programs for The Club members and hospital employees. Responsible with community programs which will include, but not limited to, children fitness program, CPR Classes, and seasonal programs such as health fairs, Set-to-Sit, Lunch and learns and wellness bulletin boards. Coordinates, conducts, evaluates, and assists in development of educational programs to meet the needs of corporate and community groups/clients. Assists in obtaining new corporate/business/industrial clients and in developing marketing strategies for promoting wellness. Assist in the selection of professionals to deliver specific requested programs. Establishes both long- and short-term goals to meet the objectives of The Club and the mission of Health Services. Maintains records and statistics as required by the Director. Oversees the printing and/or requisition of resource materials and gym/club supplies. Understands the use and efficiency of visual aids and applies these effectively in presentations, schedules use of AV equipment and materials. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.
