Job Description

General Statement of Duties:
Performs routine work scorekeeping for youth sports leagues, tournaments, and special events; does related work as required. Employees in this class function as support staff for Recreation Program Supervisors and Rec Aide III or Rec Aide IV. They represent the department and should be able to respond to public inquires.
Essential Duties and Tasks:
Provides on-site supervision of youth and adult sports leagues, camps, special events, and tournaments; Supervises scorekeepers and gym attendants assigned to athletic games and facilities; Serves as the senior scorekeeper when paired with a Rec Aide I & Rec Aide II, handling difficult situations in the absence of Rec Aide IV; Supervises scorekeepers and gym attendants assigned to athletic games and facilities; Opens, sets up, and closes athletic and park facilities; Keeps score for adult and youth sports leagues Assist in the main office with clerical duties, answering the phone, assisting customers, and other miscellaneous task; Fills out accident report forms and incident report forms; Fills out results forms and playing time sheets; Communicates issues and problems to Site Supervisors, full time Recreation staff, and emergency personnel; Enforces Nash County polices; Provides routine information on departmental policies, procedures, and services; Performs other job-related tasks as required. Work assignment locations will vary. Facilities are located in Red Oak, Middlesex, Bailey, Spring Hope, Castalia, and Nashville, NC. Position normally involves 5-20 hours per week (seasonal); must be available evenings and weekends.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Applicant must have knowledge of or be able to gain knowledge of rules for baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball, and football; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees and the general public; ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Education and Experience:
Some experience in community or group recreation activities in athletics, as a scorekeeper or participant. Must be at least 18 years of age.
