Hourly Position Type Internship Apply Description Role:
The Athletic Dept. Intern at Salem Community College will support the athletic department in various functions, contributing to the overall success of the college's sports programs. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in sports management, event coordination, and administrative support within a collegiate environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and execution of athletic events and activities, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to schedules.
- Provide administrative support to the athletic department, including data entry, filing, and maintaining records.
- Collaborate with coaches and staff to facilitate communication and coordination between teams and departments.
- Participate in marketing and promotional efforts for athletic events, including social media management and community outreach.
- Support the maintenance and inventory of athletic equipment and facilities, ensuring they are in optimal condition.
- Help in the development and implementation of student-athlete programs and initiatives that promote academic and athletic excellence.
- Attend department meetings and contribute ideas for improving processes and enhancing the student-athlete experience.
Qualifications Education:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university, preferably with a focus in sports management, physical education, or a related field.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a sports or athletic environment, such as volunteering or participating in college sports teams.
- Experience in event planning or coordination, especially within a collegiate setting.
- Familiarity with athletic department operations or similar organizational structures.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and external partners.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when necessary.
- Enthusiasm for sports and a commitment to promoting the college's athletic programs.
