Job Description

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is hiring a Park and Recreation Aide 5 for Mongaup Pond in Livingston Manor, New York. This position will perform the duties of the Assistant Caretaker and is required to stay overnight in the caretakers' cabin 2 consecutive nights a week, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Minimum Qualifications:
One year's experience in maintenance, construction, landscaping, or in business operations. • At least 6 months of which must be at the supervisory level. Must be at least 18 years of age and maintain a valid driver's license.

Schedule:
8-hour day or evening shift Holiday availability Weekend availability Overnights 2 consecutive nights a week ,

Job Duties:
Must have dependable transportation and be able to work assigned shifts. Must be punctual, reporting for work on time. Shift work may be required when assigned to booth areas or shower building cleaning. Should expect to work all weekends and holidays during period of employment. Must be able, where applicable, to do manual work in park such as picking up litter, raking, pushing lawnmowers, and cleaning comfort stations, restrooms and buildings. Extra physical work may be required such as aiding in removing brush and firewood and/or moving canoes and rowboats. Must be able to communicate with others and accept direction. All tasks are to be conducted in a safe manner, with any injuries/illnesses reported immediately to supervisor. Must be well groomed, wear appropriate attire, including work shoes/close toed shoes. Issued clothing must be kept clean and worn while on duty. Must be even tempered and capable of communicating with the public. Provide patrons with information regarding facilities and use. Must be able to handle and account for money and complete necessary Revenue Reports and all weekly facility paperwork. Must be capable of operating a personal computer. Will monitor and oversee fee collection and verification activities. Handle complaints or inquiries from park patrons regarding the quality of their experience, the cleanliness of facilities, noise from other facility users, and other related customer service issues. May act as shift or area supervisor . • Required to stay overnight in the caretakers' cabin 2 consecutive nights a week ,_ Wednesday and Thursday.
