PRIMARY FUNCTION/PURPOSE
Responsible for the overall direction of and provides sound management of the After School Recreation Program to the Director/Teacher of Childcare and Recreation Programs. This for the Lighthouse family shelter located in Long Island City, Queens.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and implement outside/indoor developmentally age-appropriate program activities, which are consistent with the program's philosophy To be well organized and have proper record keeping (attendance, physicals, registration, profiles, fieldtrips, monthly calendars, weekly tasks, and community link files) To plan and implement program policies and procedures to protect and promote safety. To enhance the health of all participants in the program To organize/plan field trips and camping for the participants To plan and implement short/long term planning goals, and an action plan to support the programs mission Grant(s) proposal writings when necessary Seek appropriate donations for the residents of CRF To be involved in daily operations of the program in supervising staff, staff and program development, communicating with families, building relationships with the host community and corporations. Utilizing the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) - Client Assistance and Re-housing Enterprise System (CARES) complete incident reports as needed
Professional Responsibility:
Supports the center's code of ethical conduct Engages in ongoing staff development to improve personal and professional skills Ingoing regular contact with departmental and other staff and volunteers for the purpose of work efforts Attends staff meetings, workshops and in-service training provided by the center
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED Two years' experience in a recreational or educational setting required Knowledge of office systems; Microsoft Effective leadership and communication Teambuilding Strong organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal and computer literate in Microsoft-Office
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
