The Daughters of Charity, provides a safe, welcoming home for the retired Sisters of the Daughters of Charity Ministries. We offer independent living, assisted living and memory care, and our team plays a vital role in creating an environment where Sisters feel respected. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Activities Assistant to support engaging, meaningful programs that enhance the daily lives of our Sister-residents on our campus. This role reports to the Life Enrichment Director. What You'll Do Plan, organize, implement, develop and evaluate recreational programs for the residents. Encourage, motivate, inspire, and minimize barriers for residents to participate in daily activities and engagement opportunities (scheduled and unscheduled). Assist the Life Enrichment department with administrative tasks, including but not limited to copying, faxing, typing memorandum (i.e., monthly calendars), and answering phones. Escort residents to and from activities. Utilize the community engagement system, LifeLoop, to the fullest extent of the role. Assist with volunteer engagement. Assist with maintenance of community pet parakeets (where applicable). Maintain an organized, clean, and neat environment for residents including activity engagement spaces. Drive community bus or car when transportation is needed. What We're Looking For Energetic, compassionate individuals who enjoy engaging with older adults. Be outgoing, patient, and comfortable engaging residents with varying abilities and interests. Demonstrate creativity, flexibility and enthusiasm when supporting activities and programs Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, families, volunteers and staff. Be organized and comfortable assisting with digital calendars, documentation and basic administrative tasks. A clean, valid NYS driver's license is required. Computer skills required.
Physical Demands:
Must be physically able to efficiently perform the duties of the position, which may involve the following: Stand, walk, and sit from 1/3 to 2/3 of the day; reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and use of fingers to handle and feel over 2/3 of the day; Climbing or balancing, talking or hearing, and tasting or smelling under 1/3 of the day.
