Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Activities Assistant to enrich the lives of residents in our senior living community. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for engaging older adults through meaningful activities, with experience in event planning, recreational therapy, and senior care. As an Activities Assistant, you will develop and coordinate diverse programs that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being, fostering a vibrant and inclusive environment for residents. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of engaging activities tailored to residents' interests and abilities, including recreational therapy sessions and social events. Coordinate resident events such as outings, celebrations, and wellness programs to encourage community participation. Build strong rapport with residents by understanding their individual needs, preferences, and capabilities to ensure personalized engagement. Collaborate with team members to develop innovative activity programs that enhance quality of life and promote cognitive health. Maintain accurate records of resident participation and activity outcomes to monitor program effectiveness. Assist in managing activity supplies and materials, ensuring resources are available for planned events. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming activities and gather feedback for continuous improvement. Requirements Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care within assisted living or nursing home settings. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory support programs, and geriatrics is highly desirable. Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities or special needs in a long-term care environment. Strong communication skills with the ability to foster positive relationships with residents and team members. Experience developing programs tailored to aging issues and cognitive impairments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for scheduling, documentation, and communication purposes. Prior experience working with geriatric patients in senior living facilities or home & community care environments is preferred.
