Job Description
Duties Description As a Recreation Assistant, under the supervision of professional treatment staff, your duties will include: Collaborating with treatment team and planning recreation and rehabilitation activities Teaching and coaching individuals on sports, games, and other group activities and encouraging participation Observing and recording individuals' responses to activities Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (HELPS) program if the have two years of experience in providing direct care to individuals receiving care and/or treatment in facilities and programs. OR Candidates must be reachable for appointment as a Recreation Assistant from the Paraprofessional Careers in Mental Hygiene eligible list. OR Candidates from within State Service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
