We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and compassionate Activities Assistant to help enrich the lives of our residents each day. In this role, you will be a vital part of creating a warm, engaging, and community-focused environment by planning and leading activities that promote socialization, mental stimulation, physical movement, and emotional well-being. This position also requires strong creativity and computer skills. Candidates must be proficient in Canva and comfortable creating professional-looking activity calendars, flyers, signs, event materials, and other promotional pieces. Your creativity, energy, and caring spirit will help make Bel Air a place where residents feel valued, supported, and encouraged to enjoy life to the fullest. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and lead a variety of activities based on residents' interests, preferences, and abilities, including games, crafts, music, themed events, and outings. Encourage resident participation in both group and one-on-one activities that support social interaction, independence, and enjoyment. Use Canva to create attractive and professional activity calendars, flyers, posters, signs, invitations, and other materials related to resident activities and special events. Assist with planning, decorating, promoting, and coordinating facility events, celebrations, and themed activities. Assist residents with daily living activities as needed, including mobility, dressing, and personal care, in accordance with care plans and staff direction. Work closely with nursing staff and other team members to provide activities that support residents with memory care needs, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and other specialized conditions. Maintain activity calendars and schedules to ensure programs are organized, timely, and responsive to resident needs and preferences. Observe and document resident attendance, participation, and responses to activities to support individualized care planning. Help residents explore new interests and reconnect with lifelong hobbies in ways that are meaningful and therapeutic. Contribute to a positive, lively, creative, and supportive atmosphere throughout the community.
Qualifications / Skills
Must be proficient in Canva and able to independently create polished flyers, calendars, signage, invitations, and other activity-related materials. Must be comfortable using computers and learning additional programs and technology used within the facility. Experience in activities, event planning, recreation, caregiving, or a related role preferred. Experience working in a nursing facility, assisted living, long-term care, or similar healthcare setting is strongly preferred. Knowledge of senior care, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, and working with individuals with disabilities is helpful. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, families, staff, and visitors. Patience, empathy, dependability, and a genuine passion for working with seniors. Ability to assist with ADLs as needed and support residents in a dignified, respectful manner. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage schedules, meet deadlines, and adapt activities based on resident needs. Creativity, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for developing engaging experiences that enhance residents' quality of life.
