Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and organized Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging recreational and therapeutic activities for our residents. The ideal candidate will have a passion for senior care and a strong understanding of aging issues, with the ability to communicate effectively and foster a positive environment. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for residents through planned activities that promote social interaction, cognitive engagement, and physical well-being. Responsibilities Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational programs tailored to the interests and abilities of residents. Facilitate group activities, ensuring all participants are engaged and supported. Provide support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed, promoting independence while ensuring safety. Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and staff to ensure a cohesive approach to care. Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities. Collaborate with nursing staff and recreational therapists to address individual resident needs and preferences. Support residents with dementia care by providing specialized activities that cater to their cognitive abilities. Participate in ongoing training related to senior care and recreational therapy. Requirements Experience in event planning or recreational therapy is preferred but not required. Knowledge of dementia care techniques and aging issues counseling is a plus. Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with seniors is a must. Previous experience in a nursing home or similar senior care environment is a must. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. A genuine passion for enhancing the lives of seniors through meaningful activities. Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate various activity times.
