This position involves planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents, particularly those in long-term care, assisted living, and memory care settings. The Activity Assistant will work closely with residents, their families, and the care team to foster a supportive and enriching environment. Duties Develop and implement a variety of recreational and social activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Assist in scheduling activities that accommodate the needs and preferences of residents. Facilitate group activities such as games, arts and crafts, music sessions, and exercise classes. Provide one-on-one support to residents who may require additional assistance or encouragement to participate. Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities align with residents' care plans and health considerations. Maintain records of participation and feedback to assess the effectiveness of programs. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding upcoming events and individual resident needs. Skills Experience in senior care or long-term care settings is preferred; familiarity with dementia care is a plus. Strong communication skills to engage effectively with residents of varying cognitive abilities. Knowledge of aging issues counseling to provide appropriate support for residents facing challenges related to aging. Ability to manage schedules efficiently to ensure smooth operation of activities. Event planning skills to create enjoyable experiences that cater to the interests of residents. A compassionate approach to caregiving that prioritizes the dignity and respect of all individuals.
