Essential Job Functions:
Primary responsibility is to coordinate and execute all special events and mountain activities in both the winter and summer specifically, but not limited to: public races, ski race leagues, snowboard events, torchlight parades, festivals, drive-in movies, USSA and local races/competitions on mountain, private events, weddings, charity, children's, and community events. Work to coordinate components of events in a safe manner and fulfill sponsorship agreements. Safely transporting equipment to and from venues, organizing, executing, and evaluating all events. Provide for a variety of mountain events that may include movie nights, live music, trivia, lectures/talks, s'mores, and others. 1. Hands-on support for event set up/take down 2. Purchasing of event equipment dependent on event needs 3. Creation and development of event materials as needed 4. Delivery/pick-up of event rentals and other related materials 5. On-site management/coordination for all events, Welcome/organize vendors/exhibitors, Provide help/support to vendors, sponsors, partners, volunteers 6. Help/support guests pre-arrival, at events and post-event Maintain a working knowledge of the complex needs for a wide variety of events. Provide detailed plans for each event in advance with timelines/cost breakdowns/to dos/sponsorship opportunities outlined. Meet with vendors/volunteers/partners outside of normal business hours. Comfortable with being included in social media to speak on upcoming events and the ability to step in to MC for specific events as needed. Issue event invoices, collect vendor payments, report on ROI post event. Debrief each event with key parties to identify opportunities and risks. Plan for potential scenarios that could impact the integrity of the event. Bring creativity and freshness to all events. Fulfill different event needs to produce high quality, professional events including, but not limited to, volunteer coordination, banners/sponsor work, registration and results, timing, announcing of events, support and equipment allocation. Coordinate carrying of event equipment to featured destinations using skis or vehicles. Set up, maintain, and run timing and/or audio systems. Must be on-site prior to the start of every event, during the event window and after the event for take down coordination. Coordinate private event rentals with guests, including scheduling, contracts, and facilitation Work closely with marketing to determine event information needed for promotional materials. Maintain a safe and cautious work environment while always working within one's abilities and skill level. Create a highly animated, fun, and exciting ambiance at and surrounding each event. Develop and maintain relationships with all departments on the mountain, local businesses, and sponsors/alliances. Establish/maintain relationships with event vendors and work with Development on partnership opportunities as they pertain to specific events Must have, or develop, extensive knowledge of Mt. Ashland facilities, activities and operations. Attend weekly staff meetings. For winter and summer, responsible for providing one's own outdoor gear to perform required tasks (including ski pants, boots, and skis/snowboard). Performs other duties as assigned. Recreation & Events is a part of Marketing. Much of the work is conducted outdoors in the on-mountain arena. Additional work will be conducted in the Marketing Office located in the main lodge. Works closely with marketing, development, park crew, grooming, lifts, patrol, F&B, ski clubs, competition teams.
Performance Expectations:
Non-smoking environment. Current OLCC Permit holder, or ability to obtain an Oregon OLCC Alcohol Server Permit within 1 month of hire. Highly efficient and effective organizational and attention to detail skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective guest relations and employee relation skills. Computer skills including Google Suite (Sheets, Slides, Gmail, Docs) and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and graphic understanding are strongly preferred. Basic electronics (sound equipment and power) preferred Ability to multitask, problem solve, meet deadlines and work in challenging weather conditions required Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of people and be able to handle a variety of tasks and challenging situations, in a calm and professional manner. Must have a team player attitude and be able to work cross functionally across all departments and with volunteers and guests. Ability to provide accurate information and maintain a good attitude during stressful situations.
Per MAA Vehicle Insurance standards:
must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license and the ability to be added to MAA's vehicle insurance policy. CPR Certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to ski while carrying heavy loads in all conditions. Able to engage in repetitive body motion involving upper body torque during the transportation of equipment for course/event preparation. Must be able to sustain heavy physical exertion, up to 6 to 10 hours daily. Ability to lift smaller weights from 25 lbs. repetitively and up to 50 lbs. occasionally, often in awkward positions. Advanced skier or snowboarder required. Must be confident functioning on snow and ice, including driving, walking, etc. Required to twist, stoop/bend, squat, kneel, grasp with both hands and ski/snowboard continuously throughout a shift. Ski/snowboard with up to 50 lbs. of weight in arms or on back. Ability to work under varying weather conditions, often extreme in nature. Able to stand or sit for long periods in both cold and hot temperatures. Vision and long-distance hearing are necessary to complete certain tasks.

$20.00 - $22.00 per hour
