Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Assistant to join our vibrant senior living community. In this role, you will play a vital part in enriching residents' lives through engaging, meaningful activities tailored to their interests and needs. Your enthusiasm and creativity will foster a warm, welcoming environment that promotes social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on seniors' daily experiences while developing your skills in senior care, event planning, and recreational therapy. Duties Plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of resident-centered activities and events that promote socialization, cognitive engagement, and physical activity. Assist with the development of activity programs tailored to residents' abilities, including memory care and dementia-friendly initiatives. Build strong rapport with residents by understanding their preferences, needs, and individual histories to create personalized engagement opportunities. Support residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensuring comfort and independence during participation. Manage scheduling of events and activities, ensuring smooth execution and timely communication with staff and residents. Collaborate with team members to develop innovative programs that enhance resident quality of life within the community. Maintain accurate records of resident participation, feedback, and activity outcomes for continuous improvement. Qualifications Proven experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or senior care environments; experience with geriatrics and memory care is highly valued. Strong background in event planning, recreational therapy, or program development focused on seniors or individuals with disabilities. Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with residents of all ages and backgrounds. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, scheduling, and communication purposes. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care strategies, and aging issues counseling is preferred. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team; leadership skills are a plus. Compassionate attitude with a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of seniors through engaging activities.
