Roy Stone, Jr. Veterans Pavilion is hiring for Recreation Assistant ! Effective July 1, the E. Roy Stone Veterans Pavilion on the CM Tucker campus, will transfer to the SC Department of Veteran Affairs from the SC Department of Mental Health. Avalon Health Care, a privately operated company experienced in the long-term care needs of Veterans, will operate the Veterans Home for the SC Department of Veterans Affairs. Wage $18.00 - $19.39 per hour
Schedule:
Part Time 4pm-8pm w/ every other weekend
Job Summary:
The Recreation Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and implementation of recreational activities for residents of the Southern Utah Veterans Home. The Recreation Assistant will work under the direction of the Recreation Director to ensure that all activities are safe, enjoyable, and appropriate for the residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the planning, organizing, and implementation of recreational activities for residents Assist in the setup and cleanup of activity areas Assist in the transportation of residents to and from activities Assist in the supervision of residents during activities Assist in the maintenance of recreational equipment and supplies Assist in the documentation of resident participation in activities Assist in the development of new recreational programs and activities
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Experience working with seniors or in a recreational setting preferred Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Working Conditions:
The Recreation Assistant will work primarily indoors in a recreational setting. The position may require occasional evening and weekend work to accommodate resident schedules and activities.
