QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Experience in programs with the elderly is desirable. Background in music is a plus.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge in the use of audiovisual equipment and other communication equipment desirable.
JOB SUMMARY
The Activities Assistant is directly responsible to the Activity Coordinator and aids in the total delivery system of independent and group activities for each resident in accordance with needs and interests.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
RESPONSIBILITY FOR:
Assistance with the incorporation of activities into the resident's and patients over- all plan of care. Awareness of every resident's and patient's condition at all times.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Good physical and mental health. Stands and walks long distances per day. Stoops, pushes, reaches, lifts, and carries activity equipment weighing up to between 51 and 74 pounds.
SPECIAL DEMANDS
Must be able to follow oral and written directions Good communication skills to give direction to residents and patients, volunteers, staff and other members of the care team. Tact, sympathy, patience and an awareness of the problems of the elderly. Good personal health procedures and grooming is a must.
WORK PERFORMED
In addition to the duties listed, may be assigned various other duties by the Activity Coordinator. Assists in conducting diversified program of activities for residents. Assists in maintaining accurate and comprehensive records. Assists with the volunteer program and community services for residents. Practices established procedures of infection control, safety, fire and disaster plans. In addition has read these manuals as well as the personnel policy manual. Performs duties as assigned by Activity Coordinator and is responsible and accountable for the completion and quality performance of the duties. Responsible for passing water to the residents' rooms. Attends staff meeting and special in-services. Reports change in resident care. Cleans equipment and maintains safe environment and communicates frequently with Activity Coordinator.

Up to $17.50 per hour
