Job Description

Turn your love of the outdoors into a job! Camp Ocoee is looking for part-time, as-needed Fall/Spring Weekend Retreat Staff to lead activities, promote safety, and create memorable experiences for groups of all ages. From archery and climbing to canoeing and sports, you'll help make every visit safe, fun and engaging. Most shifts will take place on weekends based on retreat and event needs.
Responsibilities:
Oversees camp activities such as archery, canoeing, climbing, various sports, arts and crafts, slingshots, BB guns, etc. Helps to identify and address potential safety concerns or hazards. Performs first aid and provides care for participants as needed. Maintains effective, positive relationships with participants and other staff. Assists participants as needed using clear and professional communication; Answers questions and concerns. Performs cleaning duties to ensure a welcoming and safe environment. Consistently ensures all safety rules, policies and guidelines are followed by participants. Maintains appropriate activity reports in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older OR have previous experience as a YMCA Camp Ocoee Counselor in Training (CIT) or Ambassador. Familiarity with camping and various outdoor activities. Strong oral and written communication skills. Leadership, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills. A good understanding of risk management and safety in the workplace. Previous relevant experience preferred.
Physical Demands:
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job responsibilities in various temperatures and indoor and outdoor settings.
Training:
Certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, and O2 (provided by Y upon hire) New Employee Orientation required within one week of hire Other job specific training required upon hire
