Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
This position oversees a variety of youth and adult programs and special events for the Parks and Recreation Department. Responsibilities include all aspects of program and event operations. Fiscal accountability is required with the Department's budget preparation and implementation including forecasting funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies. Submit participation and financial reports as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree. Preferred major in parks and recreation or related field. Three years parks and recreation experience; one year in a supervisory role. Proficient in Microsoft Office and main server applications.
Special Requirements:
Certified Parks and Recreation Professional. Proficient in department registration/reservation software or within one month of hire. Proficient in City of Conroe software applications or within one month of hire. American Red Cross First Aid and CPR Certification or ability to obtain within three months of hire. Able to use an AED within three months of hire. Possession of a valid class "C" Texas driver's license or higher; clean driving record. Must comply with City of Conroe direct deposit payroll policy.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proven knowledge and abilities are required in a wide variety of recreation programs and events including sports, classes, activities and themed special events throughout the year. Experience is required in all aspects of recruiting, hiring, training, assigning, supervising and evaluating program and event support staff and contracted program vendors. Ability to improve existing programs and events; organize new programs and events through the stages of planning, developing, implementing and evaluating; budget preparation and execution; program marketing and collaborations with other organizations. Ability to interact directly with the public utilizing excellent communication and customer service skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is medium and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
