Job Description

Target Hiring Range:
$27.37 - $30.41 The purpose of this position is to coordinate and oversee a wide variety of revenue-generating recreational youth activities; assist with athletic operations; provide administrative support; provide outstanding customer service to Recreation Center patrons, maintain a clean and safe facility, promote services and programs, and oversee the recreation center building.

Develops and executes quality revenue-generating youth recreational and educational activities, and birthday party programs. This includes recruiting, on-boarding, and overseeing youth activity contract instructors; scheduling programs and parties and related logistics; program development and quality delivery; scheduling of classes and programs; promotions; organizing registration; and processing instructor payroll. Provides support to Athletics Supervisor including field reservations and scheduling league and club games and practices, tournaments, rentals and other events as needed; invoicing and payment processing; and updating field conditions information as needed. Provides quality customer service and assists in facilitating a safe environment for internal and external customers. This includes assisting with front desk operations as needed; monitoring facility; conducting facility checks; maintaining customer relations and resolving issues; enforcing safety and facility rules/guidelines; and providing emergency response services as needed such as CPR, First AID, and AED. Provides management support and performs administrative duties including acting as Manager on Duty as needed; overseeing records retention program; requisitioning, ordering, and picking up supplies; processing invoices and billing; overseeing office supply inventory and ordering office supplies for the facility; assisting with the preparation of agendas, presentations, reports, budgets, and other documents; Completes special projects and assists with departmental special events; and other duties as assigned.

Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency. Minimum of one year experience in youth programming required. Minimum of one year experience in a recreational facility setting required. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a criminal background check, drug and alcohol test, and a motor vehicle review. Work requires the occasional direction of volunteers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees. This position oversees Recreation Center contract instructors. Decisions regarding implementation of policies may be made. Contact may involve support of controversial positions or the negotiation of sensitive issues or important presentations. Contacts may involve stressful, negative interactions with the public requiring high levels of tact and the ability to respond to aggressive interpersonal interactions. This position normally performs the job by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies. Work requires a comprehensive, practical knowledge of a technical field with use of analytical judgment and decision-making abilities appropriate to the work environment of the organization. This position conducts research for documents, compiles data for computer entry, and/or enters or oversees data entry. Monitors budget and fiscal expenditures (typically non-discretionary expenditures) for a work unit of less than department size (programs, activities, projects or small organizational units) or responsibility for fiscal management of capital project(s). Advanced ability to read literature, books, reviews, scientific or technical journals, abstracts, financial reports, and/or legal documents. Intermediate ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement. Intermediate ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech. Work may require providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies. Contacts may require the consideration of different points of view to reach agreement. Elements of persuasion may be necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas.
Special Requirements:
Mobility within a field environment; must have a negative drug test. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays. This position is classified as a safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing during the course of employment.
Licenses and Certificate:
Valid driver's license with good driving record and ability to maintain while employed. CPR/First Aid/AED certifications are required.
Work Environment:
Work performed in clean surroundings, does not usually subject employee to any disagreeable elements; requires little physical effort in working with light, easy to handle materials with occasional lifting of objects, walking, standing, reaching are part of the physical demands of this position.
